HSE Incident Investigation Specialist

Our client, a leading EPCM with projects worldwide, is seeking a HSE Incident Investigation Specialist to join their team in Kitimat, BC. The position requires work directly with related to management or general business operations in an organization or functional area, and exercises the need of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

Qualifications:
· Work on projects with advanced scope of HSE activities on medium to large-scale projects
· Provide required expertise and be the Subject Matter Expert on all aspects of Incident Investigation
· Play a significant role in determining a skilled pool for Root Cause Analysis, therefore improving the quality and effectiveness of the incident investigation
· Coach, mentor and train investigation teams
· Review all reported incidents and determine the reporting level. Initiate notifications to the company and shareholders, and prepare Terms of Reference for Team Investigation/Board of Enquiry
· Apply regulatory requirements to provide advanced scope recommendations to project management; assist in monitoring and controlling HSE standards, applicable laws and regulations; and design and review a project plan or schematic to confirm compliance with all governmental regulations and Company/client requirements
· Perform and document work requiring evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of advanced and complex techniques, procedures, and criteria, for example, Environmental Impact
· Knowledge of Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Fire Protection


Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering/Safety
· 15+ years of experience in occupational and process safety investigations in major projects
· Safety related Degree/Diploma (NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent)
· Extensive TapRooT experience
· Strong knowledge of industrial occupational safety and process, safety hazards and practical mitigating measures
· Ability to develop and prepare skill sets for Root Cause Analysis and lead investigators
· Must be able to foster team building and development
