Overview
We have an exciting contract opportunity to join our global EPC client as a High Voltage Electrical Distribution Design Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Familiarity with detail design activities (not just writing sub-contract scopes of work) of High Voltage Installations (69kV – 280KV AC as well as HV DC distribution).
- Activities would involve developing overall SLDs, Protection and Control SLDs, developing Protection and Control Narratives, developing protection logic diagrams, conducting electrical system studies with software such as ETAP, SKM and CDEGS, completing Lightning Protection studies and supporting proposal estimates and project schedule development.
- Capable of specifying, overseeing procurement and supporting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) as well as providing commissioning support for HV equipment such as large transformers, generators, circuit breakers, potential transformers, current transformers, capacitor banks, high voltage cable as well as overhead line systems.
- Must be able to demonstrate proven experience in developing high voltage substation design including equipment layouts for transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, overhead bus structures, ground grids, lightning protection systems, control buildings and negotiating metering interface requirements with local Utility providers.
Qualifications
- 15+ years experience in the design of HV installations for large industrial facilities such as refineries/petrochemical facilities, data centers or regional utility providers including facilities with significant on-site generation capabilities that must be interfaced with the local grid.
- Registered as a P.Eng, or licensed professional in Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification for non-registered Electrical Specialists.
- In addition to the technical skills described above the candidate must also be willing to support development of these skills within the local office electrical team of engineers and designers by creating and presenting training materials on a regular basis as well as provide direct mentoring to junior engineers and designers while executing projects.
