We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor to take a senior leadership role supporting progress measurement, payment verification, and effective commercial governance across a major construction project. In this position, you will oversee quantity surveying activities, lead and mentor a team, ensure accurate and transparent cost control, and drive high‑quality invoice validation and change management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Quantity Surveying team, ensuring high technical standards and consistent execution of project measurement and cost‑control practices.
  • Lead the verification of construction quantities and physical progress for payment certification and invoice approval.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor progress measurement systems to ensure accurate contractor reporting.
  • Manage and coordinate all field measurement activities in collaboration with the Construction Management team.
  • Maintain and validate detailed field measurement records, calculations, and technical assumptions.
  • Oversee the preparation and verification of payment applications and ensure alignment with contractual terms.
  • Support and guide the Contract Administrator with Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), Project Cost Alerts (PCAs), and broader contract administration functions.
  • Review, evaluate, and negotiate contractor change proposals to ensure accuracy, fairness, and compliance.
  • Contribute to cost forecasting, contract change analysis, risk evaluation, and historical quantity benchmarking.
  • Monitor contract changes, commitments, and forecasts to ensure robust financial control and reporting.
  • Serve as a key interface with Engineering, Contracts, Construction, and Project Controls teams to support clear, consistent, and proactive communication.


Key Requirements:
 

  • 20+ years of progressive experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Project Controls.
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams, with strong coaching and supervisory capability.
  • Extensive background in progress measurement, quantity verification, and payment/invoice control on major construction projects (industrial, infrastructure, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of contract compliance, commercial risk management, and change‑control processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communicator able to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage complex commercial issues while driving clarity, accountability, and high‑quality documentation.
