Logistics Analyst – Lake Charles, LA

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate shipments into and out of the plant
  • Make the necessary contacts to verify product availability.  Provide order information to the cross-functional teams as needed
  • Manage, review and ship railcars and trucks to meet customer demand
  • Commit products shipments, delivery dates and other matters relating to the management of general logistics operations
  • Enter and maintains accurate rail and truck information in SAP
  • Manage  rail fleets to ensure adequate number of cars are available
  • Monitor daily the location of cars, take necessary action to keep cars moving per plan
  • Responds to incoming customer inquiries on products; assists the units and Customer Service Representatives with general information (shipping information, order status, shipment location)
  • Work to maintain an adequate truck carrier base to support the business
  • Supports month-end/year-end closing process
  • Prepare documents required for shipment of product. Reviews invoices for accuracy
  • Work in compliance with the Quality Management System requirements
  • Utilizes proactive and/or reactive approach to prevent, correct and inform Customer Service Representatives on events that could result in non-conformances
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with all customers, unit staff and Customer Service Representatives
  • Assist accounting department in daily balancing and  monthly/yearly closings
  • Prepare documentation for OTMA submittals
  • May work alternate shift schedules

    Experience/Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or business management with 3-5 years of relevant work experience; or High School diploma (or equivalent) with at least 7 years of relevant work experience  
  • Good understanding of all functions in the SAP SD module
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of logistics
  • Strong ability to interact with customers and promote good customer relations
  • Good software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Work independently, minimal supervision
