Material Planner

The Opportunity

Our client, a world leading EPCM is currently seeking talented and highly motivated Material Planners for a positions based throughout Alberta and British Columbia. This is a great opportunity to further your career with a prominent global organization.


This position serves as a material planning, purchasing, expediting, logistics or field purchasing team member who, with guidance from the Site Material Manager, identifies priorities by area and available work fronts, coordinates and leads a medium sized team in the overall reporting of project material (incoming and issued). Additional roles will extend to project procurement support for an office, group of overhead departments or indirect procurement category.

Responsibilities

Ensure the project does not run out of necessary materials to support construction; critical material orders, identification and quantification

Strong analytical, expediting and scheduling skills to ensure there is adequate supply and flow of materials without over ordering, wasting resources; ability to identify bottlenecks and forecast problems

Running material reports by work packages; handling of complex material planning, purchasing, logistics, or field purchasing functions or plans, and executes those functions within established Material Management Plans, policies, and procedures

Observe trends and maintain inventory schedules keeping track of inbound/outbound of materials while working as a team with buyers, engineers and expeditors.

Financial analysis; Coordination of payments with accounting department.

Strong problem solving skills and ability to build vendor relationships.

Qualifications

Degree / Diploma in related field

Ability to work well both independently and as a team player

Knowledge of shipping and receiving and manufacturing processes

Strong attention to detail

Critical thinking, organization and communications skills
