Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review mechanical designs, specifications, and layouts for iron ore beneficiation and tailings recovery systems.
- Collaborate with EPCM contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Oversee mechanical installation activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Support cold and hot commissioning of mechanical systems, including crushers, conveyors, pumps, and DMS units.
- Provide technical support during ramp-up and steady-state operations.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to optimize equipment reliability.
- Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with HSE regulations and company policies.
- Participate in risk assessments, HAZOPs, and safety audits.
- Identify opportunities for mechanical system optimization and cost reduction.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives aligned with Vedanta’s ESG goals.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BEng or BSc).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining or heavy industrial projects, preferably in iron ore or mineral processing.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, installation, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with DMS, magnetic separation, and tailing recovery systems is advantageous.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., SANS, ASME, ISO).
