Our client is deeply involved in delivering sustainable and innovative solutions through mining, infrastructure, and industrial projects. They are seeking an OH Officer. The position is based in the Northern Cape and will play a key role to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and promote a safe working environment across mining operations. The OH Officer plays a key role in risk management, incident prevention, and health promotion within the workforce. Don’t miss out on this exciting job opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Promote safety awareness through campaigns and toolbox talks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety legislation and best practices.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses.
- Compile detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies during investigations when required.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
- Monitor environmental conditions (e.g., ventilation, noise, dust) affecting workers’ health.
- Ensure safety systems and equipment are functional and compliant.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- National Diploma in Safety Management.
- SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1 & 2.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Certificate in Occupational Health.
- BTech in Environmental Health or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years in safety management within mining or heavy industry.
- Experience with safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
