For our client’s project on a refinery site in Croatia we are urgently searching for multiple Piping and Mechanical Inspectors. The Piping and Mechanical Inspector is responsible for overseeing and verifying the quality and compliance of piping and mechanical installations on oil and gas project acting as Client’s representative.
This role involves inspecting fabrication, installation, and testing activities to ensure adherence to project specifications, industry codes and safety standards.
The inspector participates in inspections, reviews technical documents, monitors contractor work, identifies nonconformities and prepares reports.
Key responsibilities:
- Inspection and quality assurance: conduct thorough inspection of piping systems, mechanical equipment and associated components during installation and commissioning phases to ensure compliance with project specifications, international codes and client standards
- Documentation review: examine and validate technical documents including engineering drawings, welding procedures, material certificates, isometric drawings, and inspection/testing plans to confirm accuracy and completeness
- On-site monitoring: supervise contractor activities such as welding, fit-up, bolt torquing, steam tracing, insulation, painting/touch up and pressure testing to ensure proper execution and adherence to approved procedures
- Non-conformance management: identify, document, and report any deviations or non-conformities and follow up on corrective actions
- Coordination and communication: liaise effectively with client engineers, contractors, vendors, and third-party inspectors to facilitate smooth workflow, resolve issues and maintain project timelines
- Pre-commissioning support: witness and verify pre-commissioning activities such as hydrotest, pneumatic testing, flushing, and purging of piping systems
Qualification and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgy or related
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in piping and mechanical inspection within oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy sector
- In-depth knowledge off relevant codes and standards such as API570 ( piping inspection) API 510 ( pressure vessel inspection ), ASME B31.3 , WAS standards and ISO quality standards
- Certifications as WAS CWI, or ASNT level II in NDT methods (RT, UT MT, PT) are desirable
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs , isometrics, and technical specifications
- Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection activities simultaneously under
