Piping Designer

For our client we are looking to recruit a Principal Piping Designer to join their team in the The Hague area.

The company has an established position in Europe as a leading industrial gas owner/operator company,. They are opening a new Project Delivery Hub in the Rotterdam/Hague area in order to support their ambitious growth plans. From here, their people will drive forward and continue to successfully develop, execute and operate an ever-increasing project-portfolio in the region as well as the evolving footprint of our Industrial Gas business in EMEA.

They are investing in the production of clean hydrogen fuel for the mobility sector to decarbonize heavy-duty vehicles. For their new Project Delivery location, we are currently looking for a Piping Designer.

As our Piping Designer, you will:
- Assist in delivering Conceptual and some final piping design packages on projects.
- Providing support to other engineering centers as workload requires
Support Bid and proposal requests as and when.
- Globally mobile to support multi center execution and project support.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Safety and rigorous adherence to relevant specifications and standards for all piping designs
- Layout design and engineering scope adherence in accordance with project specifications & standards
- Developing conceptual piping design and detailed piping design on projects.
- Model development in SP3D
- Assisting and or leading for the discipline, model reviews internally and externally.
- Assist in delivering piping design packages.
- Deliver Bid Plot plan layouts and studies as requested.
- Effectively communicate execution strategies, schedule issues and project requirements.
- Support Opportunity providing all required documents, estimates, functional strategy, functional deliverables in compliance with the issued work instructions, job aids and bid requirements. Documenting of any exceptions or areas where required quality, activities have not been completed.
- Interfaces with other leads engineers to ensure handoffs between departments are planned and fully understood.
- Helps to ensure design basis adheres to the appropriate (company's) EPs, Engineering Standards and Specifications, country and regulatory codes, and customer requirements.
- For function completion of Basic Design review/handover in accordance with function instruction.
- Before commencing activities ensure have all inputs and requirements to allow activity to proceed.
- Ensures design output references to codes, standards, specifications will be to the current version, unless specifically noted.
- Complies with all Company issued work process and work instructions
- Drive to competitive under budget performance- Identification of variations, scope changes, or unbudgeted work.
- Raise and communicate changes to scope/basis to Lead Piper and or Project Engineering Manager and other functions (including impact)
- Site attendance when required for inspection and or survey
- Global travel to other design centres for meetings and reviews.

Requested:
- Secondary Vocational Education / BSc in Mechanical with min 8 years of piping design experience.
- Must be familiar with an engineering organization, the function of each discipline and how they interact and the function of the various support groups.
- Hands on experience of SP3D Piping software and associated modules
- Should have experience of developing basic and detailed plant layouts
- Experience of both Pipe supporting and Piping stress work process
- Experience and knowledge to effectively communicate issues and ideas effectively.
- Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication skills
- Experience ideally with multi center execution of projects.
- Must be familiar with an engineering organization, the function of each discipline and how they interact and the function of the various support groups.
- Already eligible to work in The Netherlands.
