Overview
We have an exciting contract opportunity to join our global EPC client as a Power Systems Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Proven proficiency with developing Power System Study (PSS) reports for large scale industrial distribution networks using computer software such as ETAP, SKM.
- CDEGS, PSSE, CYME, underground cable thermal ampacity, CT saturation, etc or by use of manual calculation methods as appropriate.
- Typical reports would include short-circuit, load flow, motor starting, arc-flash, step and touch potential, power factor correction, transient voltage recovery, BIL ratings, relay protection settings, etc.
- Experience in the design of electrical distribution systems for large industrial facilities and the creation of system study reports to support the detailed system design efforts.
- In addition to the technical skills described above the candidate must also be willing to support development of these skills within the local office electrical team of engineers and designers by creating and presenting training materials on a regular basis as well as provide direct mentoring to junior engineers and designers while executing projects.
Qualifications
- 10 years minimum experience in designing heavy industrial engineering projects.
- Registered as a P.Eng, or licensed professional in Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification for non-registered Electrical Specialists.
- Experience with Electrical system modelling using (ETAP/SKM).
- Experience completing power system reports including load flow, short circuit, motor starting and arc flash.
