TRS Staffing Solutions has exciting opportunities for a Process Engineering Lead - Conversion role to work for one of Canada's top employers and a global leader in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management industry.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Review lab and pilot‑scale data, identify information gaps, and recommend additional testing required to support process design accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal standards, risk‑mitigation practices, and value‑improvement initiatives.
  • Manage the development of off‑gas treatment, neutralization systems, and safety‑critical relief devices for hazardous materials.
  • Contribute to engineering deliverables for studies, early design phases, and full project execution while supporting schedule planning and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Lead a small technical team responsible for designing key process units related to solids handling, thermal conversion systems, and downstream recovery operations.
  • Direct the design of product collection and conditioning systems, including solid‑phase condensation, recovery, and controlled melting processes.
  • Coordinate and guide external engineering partners, including third‑party modelling teams performing CFD or multiphysics simulations.
  • Oversee development of reaction systems by guiding evaluations of kinetics, hydrodynamics, heat transfer, and scale‑up considerations.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related.
  • 10+ years of experience in process engineering, including design or scale‑up of thermal conversion, reaction systems, or specialty material processes.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or P.E.)
  • Strong knowledge of hazardous materials management, industrial safety practices, and engineering design standards.
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines and providing technical leadership.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, synthesize information, and make sound engineering decisions.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
