Project Engineer

We currently seek a Construction Mechanical Project Engineer for a contract position within our client’s team of experienced professionals. The expected duration of the assignment is eight to twelve months working 40-50 hours per week. Based in Spartanburg, SC area, the primary responsibility will be to support assist our manufacturing client in new installation of and upgrading manufacturing processes and spaces. The person in this role will be acting as the main point of contact between the General Contractor, the Subcontractors and our Client.

Job Description:
Participate in the initial design phases

Understand what our client’s team needs and facilitate the design decisions with the contractor/make any changes that may be necessary

Capture cost savings opportunities

Help finalize budget and timeline

Construction phase:

Follow up on questions and issues from contractor

Monitor progress, ensure high quality workmanship and expected design is executed as planned

Work hands on managing the erection of steel piping, rigging, and installation of various pieces of equipment

Ensure the fire protection system meets specifications and is approved by the fire marshal.

Ensure new installations and upgrades of equipment are performed properly

Assisting with various projects throughout the plant in addition to the main improvement project.

 

Job Requirements:

Extensive technical and practical knowledge, and experience as a Construction Engineer or project manager.

Manage, schedule, and coordinate with General Contractor and Subcontractors

Ability to prepare or review technical engineering specifications and statements of work covering complex and diverse engineering designs or changes

Thorough knowledge of industrial construction practices and methods as well as construction management

Ability to write and speak to report on progress and outcome of technical assignments and to present recommendations

Ability to monitor construction project to a successful and timely completion

Knowledge of construction scheduling software along with knowledge of estimating process.

Knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, laws and regulations as they relate to engineering performance requirements

OSHA 30 and QA/QC Training a major plus
