Our client based in Glasgow is seeking an experienced Project Manager to take full end‑to‑end responsibility for the delivery of a utility‑scale solar PV project, acting as the client‑side lead overseeing an appointed EPC contractor.
The role carries overall accountability from mobilisation through construction, commissioning and final handover. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
This role suits an individual comfortable taking full ownership of project outcomes and managing EPC delivery at scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the single point of accountability for the solar project
  • Lead the project across the full lifecycle, from pre‑construction through COD and close‑out
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear governance and reporting
  • Drive a strong culture of safety, quality and delivery performance
EPC & Contract Management
  • Oversee and manage the EPC contractor throughout all phases of delivery
  • Lead contract administration, including change control, variations, claims and commercial risk
  • Monitor contractor performance against contractual, cost and schedule requirements
Project Controls & Governance
  • Own overall programme, cost, risk and reporting responsibilities
  • Ensure robust project controls, forecasting and risk management processes are in place
  • Proactively identify issues and implement mitigation strategies
Construction, Commissioning & Handover
  • Oversee all construction activities, ensuring compliance with H&S, environmental and quality standards
  • Lead commissioning, testing and energisation activities
  • Manage final handover and close‑out, including documentation, acceptance and defect resolution
Technical Oversight
  • Provide informed oversight across all technical disciplines
  • Strong understanding of electrical scope, including PV systems, inverters, substations, grid connection and energisation
  • Good working knowledge of civil works, including earthworks, piling, access roads and drainage
  • Ability to challenge EPC methodologies, design assumptions and construction sequencing
Experience
  • Proven experience delivering utility‑scale solar PV projects
  • Demonstrable experience overseeing an EPC contractor on energy or infrastructure projects
  • Track record of full lifecycle project delivery, including construction and commissioning
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Contract and commercial management
    • Project controls (schedule, cost, risk)
    • Construction and commissioning processes
  • Experience operating in roles with full responsibility and accountability for delivery
Technical
  • Electrical bias preferred
  • Comfortable engaging with engineers, EPCs, project controls and commercial teams
  • Able to interpret and challenge technical and programme information
Personal Attributes
  • Delivery‑focused with a strong sense of ownership
  • Confident managing EPC contractors and multiple stakeholders
  • Commercially astute with sound judgement
  • Comfortable working autonomously and making decisions
Desirable
  • Client‑side project management experience for utilities, IPPs or developers
  • Experience delivering projects in the UK
  • Exposure to solar portfolios
