Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Charleston, SC
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
Salary: $65,000-$85,000 DOE
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer supports the quality department by managing complaint investigations, leading recertification processes, maintaining SAP master data, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and company standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining product integrity, supporting manufacturing operations, and coordinating waste management activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain resources and order operations in alignment with manufacturing instructions.

Manage SAP master data, including material planning views.

Resolve post-processing errors (COGI) related to manufacturing or filling instruction confirmations.

Coordinate the setup and configuration of part numbers in SAP for new products.

Support complaint management by investigating internal and external complaints in collaboration with Order Clearing.

Monitor and manage internal complaints for scrapped batches.

Lead the recertification process, including generating paperwork, pulling materials, testing samples, and managing retains.

Organize and oversee the disposal of hazardous materials in partnership with approved third‑party vendors, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.

Coordinate pickup and disposal of non‑hazardous waste, empty cans, and totes.

Track and manage personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and cartridges.

Develop and maintain label layouts, labeling equipment processes, work instructions, and checklists.

Create and deliver training on ergonomic best practices for Production and Logistics teams.

Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Perform other duties as needed to support the company's goals and mission.
Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.

Must complete hazardous waste training within six months of hire and annually thereafter, following R.61‑79.262.17(a)(7)(ii), (iii), and (iv)(D) of the South Carolina Hazardous Waste Management Regulations (SCHWMR).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

SAP experience preferred.

Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive, customer‑focused attitude.

Able to work independently and complete tasks within established guidelines and standard practices.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform essential job functions safely and successfully in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and applicable federal, state, and local standards.

Must maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, and reaching.

Exposure to fumes and hazardous chemicals is expected.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Must be able to communicate clearly in person and by telephone.
