Summary:
Seeking an experienced Refractory Project Manager to complete project(s) at a manufacturing facility in Alabama. Project is anticipated to last minimum 3-6 months in duration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• PM will act as owners’ representative, managing these projects including cost control, schedule adherence, management updates.
• Oversees, tracks, and validates a successful on time, in scope, and below budget delivery of each project.
• Project management support for upcoming Casting refractory equipment rebuilds (Capex and Non-Capex rebuilds). Includes projects: #2 Melter (non-capex), 5A Holder/5B Holder (non-capex), 1A Melter (capex), 1B Melter (capex).
• These projects generally require long lead times for material acquisitions and to lock-in contractor availability. Company uses a gated CAPEX approval process, which requires local and business unit approvals for Gate 2 (options) and gate 3 (full approval).
• Besides material and contractor availability issues, the PM must facilitate “Scope of work” with Operations, Process, Maintenance and EHS groups.
• The PM must have the foresight to prepare multiple projects/in differing stages to achieve outage dates.
• Typically, the Capex projects must be initiated 8-10 months prior to planned outage dates.
• The Non-Capex projects initiation based on materials/contractor availability (gated Capex process not used), typically requires 4-6 months
• Coordinates activities with any effected APU Managers ensuring the coherence of refractory project activities within the APU managers in area
• Champions and enforces compliance with company Standards and Policies
• Drives development of concise project planning, estimating, success measurements, and reporting processes
• In conjunction with client representative, reviews and validates process performance measures and project success after start-up of equipment for each project.
• Coordinates with Engineering controller and CAPEX Manager, to provide planning and scheduling management, CAPEX and Expenses budget management, Purchase orders and invoice management, Cash out reporting and forecasting, Document controls management.
• Implement/follow the company Project Management process
• Review all project plans and status reports weekly
• Identify and elevate any deficient projects
• Review / approve or identify and elevate, any change orders submitted
• Review / approve countermeasure implementation

Requirements:
• Experience in project management using a gated process (similar to PMI)
• Extensive knowledge of refractory linings (brick/castable)
• Extensive experience in working with, repairing, and installing refractory linings (brick/castable)
• Turnaround planning, scheduling and execution experience
