Job Overview
The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards at the solar power plant site. The role ensures compliance with statutory regulations, company safety policies, and best practices to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and systems at the solar plant site.
- Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, local laws, and company standards.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
- Monitor safety practices during module installation, structure erection, electrical work, cable laying, inverters, and substation activities.
- Organize and conduct toolbox talks, safety trainings, and induction programs for workers and contractors.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce safe work practices.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
- Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and project management to resolve safety concerns.
- Maintain safety documentation, permits, records, and audit reports.
- Ensure proper fire safety, electrical safety, work-at-height safety, and emergency preparedness.
- Support internal and external HSE audits and inspections.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project site.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Engineering / Industrial Safety / Safety Management or equivalent.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience as a Safety Officer, preferably in solar power plants, power projects, or large infrastructure sites.
- Certification in Safety (NEBOSH / IOSH / ADIS or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
- Strong knowledge of solar site safety risks, electrical safety, and construction safety norms.
- Good understanding of HIRA, JSA, PTW systems, and emergency response procedures.
