Job description
We are developing large-scale solar, wind, and solar-wind hybrid projects across India. We are looking for an experienced EHV Projects professional with strong site execution, coordination, and management capabilities across Transmission Lines and Pooling / Grid Substations. This role involves hands-on site leadership, ensuring safe execution, adherence to quality standards, and timely delivery of EHV civil, electrical, and mechanical works across challenging project environments.
Role & Responsibilities
- Act as Site Manager for EHV projects, coordinating with local subcontractors for civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
- Ensure quality control and progress monitoring, including daily logs, site photographs, DPRs, and joint measurements.
- Monitor construction progress, material deliveries, and ensure safe storage and handling of materials.
- Spend approximately 70% of time at site, working in demanding field and weather conditions as required.
- Coordinate between project sites and Head Office, implementing site management methodologies and project execution strategies.
- Manage site administration, including construction power, water, travel, accommodation, logistics, and pantry arrangements.
- Interpret and execute drawings related to 66 kV and above EHV projects, including:
- Transmission Lines
- Pooling Substations / Grid Substations
- Feeder bays, metering systems, and associated infrastructure
- Supervise and manage skilled & unskilled manpower and third-party supervisors at site.
- Implement project schedules in line with PM plans, milestones, and timelines.
- Take site-level decisions to ensure construction progress while complying with quality checks and inspection requirements.
- Oversee erection, testing, and pre-commissioning of EHV equipment, including:
- Power Transformers
- HT & LT Panels
- SCADA systems
- HV / EHV cables
- Metering systems
- Ensure proper commissioning checks, documentation, and reporting.
- Coordinate and manage deployment of machinery and equipment (cranes, lifting equipment, testing tools, etc.).
- Manage vendors’ teams and ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections, maintain DPRs, verify joint measurement sheets, and track milestones.
- Coordinate with contractors and resolve site execution challenges.
- Handle Right of Way (ROW) issues and manage EHV transmission-related site challenges on an end-to-end basis.
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience in construction and execution of EHV substations and transmission lines (up to 220 kV).
- Sound knowledge of:
- Electrical erection, installation, testing, and commissioning
- HV / EHV systems and LV systems
- IS Codes, CPWD standards, and industry best practices
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
- Leadership capability to manage site teams, contractors, and multi-vendor environments.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight project deadlines.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Good communication skills in English and Hindi for coordination with contractors, utilities, and engineers.
- Willingness to work across project sites in multiple Indian states.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (mandatory).
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in EHV infrastructure projects involving:
- Transmission Lines
- Pooling Substations / Grid Substations
- Candidates with 7+ years of overall experience preferred.
- Diploma holders should have 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of civil, electrical, industrial automation codes, and standards used in renewable energy projects is an added advantage.
- Experience working across multiple Indian states preferred.
- Ability to manage a multi-vendor and multicultural workforce in dynamic site conditions.
