Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake C&I engineering and design activities as required by the project, which could include system and/or equipment calculations, Instrumentation datasheets, engineering requisitions, C&I equipment lists, technical bid evaluations, C&I design criteria, input into the Basis of Design document, SEAL plan input, relevant design drawings and other C&I engineering related deliverables.
- Have a functional working knowledge of SmartPlant P&ID (SP&ID), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), IDES and other C&I engineering software, as applicable to the area of specialty in order to manage the delivery of the C&I design documentation.
- When assigned, lead C&I Engineering activities on Miscellaneous, Small and Large projects and providing technical leadership during all phases of projects (conceptual engineering, pre-feasibility engineering [FEL2], basic engineering [FEL3] and detailed engineering design).
- Set-up projects as per the clients’ requirements to ensure engineering governance.
- Compile, review and approve deliverables in line with the TSP.
- Quality man-hour estimates and write-ups (Assumptions, Exclusions, and Method Statements) as required.
- Understand and implement the requirements of the client Technical Stewardship Standard, as well as include all specified engineering codes, standards, procedures, quality plans and in accordance with the SEAL Plan for the project.
- C&I Engineering deliverables compliant with industry codes and standards, as well as customer specifications, or Worley standards.
- Responsible for personal safety and understands the Asset Lifecycle implications of the design and ensure that hazards / risks are being identified and mitigated and to adhere to safe working practices.
- Understand and implement all legal requirements as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and/or the Mines Health and Safety Act within C&I Engineering.
- Act as mentor to more junior C&I engineers in line with the ECSA requirements.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- BSc, BEng or BTech Electrical (Light Current) / Electronic Engineering from a recognised institute.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA
- Minimum 8 years (BSc/BEng/BEng Techn/BTech) or 6 years (MSc) of post qualification experience.
- Experience in the Mining, Minerals and Chemicals, Hydrocarbons, Power and Public Infrastructure industries essential, across operations, design and project execution roles.
Working Conditions:
- May be required to travelling internationally to other clients’ offices, Client and / or Supplier sites.
