Senior Director of Electrical Engineering
We currently seek a high-caliber Senior Director of Electrical Engineering for a direct hire basis within our client's team of experienced professionals in the Greater Chicago, IL area.

Job Duties:
- Lead and develop the Electrical Engineering department, providing technical and managerial oversight to engineering leaders and staff.
- Establish and execute strategic plans to grow electrical engineering capabilities, resources, and subject matter expertise.
- Serve as a technical authority and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical engineering projects and initiatives.
- Act as Engineer of Record when required and provide technical support across multiple projects.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to achieve company goals and support operational excellence.
- Partner with regional leadership teams to ensure engineering resources effectively support project execution and client needs.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of electrical engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
- Review and support equipment specifications, bid packages, technical evaluations, and design documentation.
- Provide technical guidance related to power system studies, electrical distribution systems, protection and relaying schemes, and major electrical equipment.
- Support quality control efforts through technical reviews and subject matter expertise.
- Maintain and strengthen client relationships while identifying opportunities for growth within existing accounts.
- Lead team development initiatives, including hiring, mentoring, coaching, training, performance management, and career pathing.
- Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of new technologies, systems, and engineering processes.
- Support business development efforts through proposal reviews, project planning, staffing strategies, and client engagement.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to guide strategic business initiatives.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Strong knowledge of industrial, utility, energy, and infrastructure projects.
- Construction and field experience strongly preferred.

- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Strong business acumen and strategic planning capabilities.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, standards, and industry codes.
- Experience supporting complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support cross-functional teams.
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites, client locations, and regional offices.
