Our esteemed client is a leading renewable energy company headquartered in Gauteng, focused on accelerating the transition to a carbon-neutral economy through large-scale power generation, decentralized energy solutions, and innovative technologies such as green hydrogen and energy storage.

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to support its South African energy and infrastructure projects. This contract role will focus on project financing, mergers and acquisitions, and project development across the full lifecycle.  This role is located in Johannesburg.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Advise on energy and infrastructure projects, including project financing, mergers and acquisitions, and development.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and financing agreements, including Engineering, Procurement and Construction agreements, Operations and Maintenance agreements, and Joint Venture agreements.
  • Lead legal due diligence and risk assessments.
  • Support financial close processes and security documentation.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory, contractual, and corporate governance matters.
  • Manage external legal advisors and legal risks.
  • Support contract management, claims, and dispute resolution.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Laws degree and admitted as an Attorney in South Africa.
  • 5–7 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, project financing, or mergers and acquisitions.
