Role description:

 

Due to on-going growth and a strong pipeline of work, our client's team has an exciting opportunity for a SMP Commissioning Superintendent. 

 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

 

SMP Commissioning Superintendent 
 
  • Provide leadership and direction to SMP commissioning personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and timely execution of commissioning activities.
  • Review and approve commissioning procedures, Inspection Test Records (ITRs), test packs, and commissioning documentation.
  • Manage CCMS completions activities, including inspection records, punch lists, system walkdowns, and handover deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with project standards, statutory requirements, safety procedures, environmental requirements, and client specifications.
  • Lead commissioning planning activities, including systemisation, turnover readiness, execution sequencing, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate commissioning interfaces between Construction, Engineering, Operations, Vendors, and Contractors.
  • Manage pre-startup verification, equipment readiness inspections, and punch-list closeout activities.
  • Drive safe and effective execution of SMP commissioning and testing activities, including fault identification, defect resolution, and commissioning troubleshooting.
  • Monitor commissioning progress, identify risks and constraints, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule commitments.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to commissioning engineers, supervisors, and contractors.
  • Coordinate system handover activities and support transition to Operations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with company and project HSE requirements.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

  • Prior experience using CCMS software
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of completions and commissioning processes and protocols
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to communicate and demonstrate good safety management practice
  • Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within the business and externally
  • Ability to schedule commissioning requirements and work under pressure
  • Appropriate trade or engineering technical qualifications and experience as described above
  • Minimum 10 years SMP commissioning experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in Commissioning Superintendent or equivalent leadership role.
  • More than 5 years experience with pre-commissioning and commissioning of new equipment circuits and plants
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary commissioning teams.
  • Demonstrated experience on iron ore, port, materials handling or mining infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with electrical installations and testing and commissioning 
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft office computer software packages
  • Previous EPCM and Owner's Team (Client) experience.
