Role description:

 

Due to on-going growth and a strong pipeline of work, our client's team has an exciting opportunity for a SMP Commissioning Supervisor. 

 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

 

 

  • Supervise and coordinate SMP commissioning activities across assigned systems and areas to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution.
  • Lead and mentor commissioning technicians, coordinators, and contractor personnel during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with Construction, Engineering, Operations, Vendors, and Maintenance teams to achieve project milestones.
  • Ensure commissioning procedures, test plans, inspection records, and turnover documentation are completed and accepted in accordance with project requirements
  • Monitor commissioning progress, identify constraints, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule commitments.
  • Participate in system walkdowns, punch listing, punch verification, and mechanical completion activities.
  • Verify equipment readiness and support execution of functional testing, energisation, startup, and system handover activities.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning records within the project completions management system (CMS/CCMS).
  • Support development, review, and implementation of commissioning work packs, procedures, and commissioning schedules.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all activities comply with Project, Client,HSE requirements.

 

Qualifications & Experience:
 

  • Prior experience using CCMS software
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in SMP construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory commissioning role.
  • Previous experience on large-scale mining, resources, mineral processing, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary commissioning activities.
  • Ability to schedule commissioning requirements and work under pressure
  • Appropriate trade or engineering technical qualifications and experience as described above.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, structural installations, piping systems, and associated testing requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience on iron ore, port, materials handling or mining infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with electrical installations and testing and commissioning 
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft office computer software packages
  • Previous EPCM and Owner's Team (Client) experience.
  • Valid site-specific and statutory certifications as required for project execution.
  • Section 26 competence
