The Construction Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership, coordination, and delivery of all on‑site construction activities, ensuring the project is executed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards. They act as the primary on‑site interface between the client, contractors, design teams, and internal project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership & Delivery

Lead and manage all on‑site construction activities across multiple work fronts.

Oversee subcontractors, direct labour, and suppliers to ensure efficient sequencing and progress.

Monitor daily productivity, resolve blockers, and maintain momentum against programme milestones.

Chair daily briefings, coordination meetings, and toolbox talks.
Health, Safety & Compliance
-
Ensure full compliance with HSE legislation, CDM regulations, RAMS, permits, and site procedures.

Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks.

Drive a strong safety culture and intervene where unsafe practices are observed.
Quality & Technical Oversight

Review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Ensure works are installed to design, quality standards, and industry best practice.

Manage inspections, test plans (ITPs), snagging, and handover documentation.
Programme & Planning
-
Track progress against the construction programme and escalate risks early.

Coordinate sequencing between civils, structural, MEP, and specialist contractors.

Support short‑term lookahead planning and resource forecasting.
Commercial & Contractual
-
Monitor variations, scope changes, and potential commercial impacts.

Validate subcontractor progress for valuations.

Support procurement, material call‑offs, and logistics planning.
Stakeholder Coordination

Act as the on‑site point of contact for the client, design teams, and project leadership.

Communicate clearly with planners, QS teams, engineers, and commissioning teams.

Manage interfaces with live operations where required (utilities, energy, data centres, etc.).
Documentation & Reporting

Maintain accurate site records, daily diaries, progress photos, and reports.

Issue updates on safety, progress, risks, and resourcing.

Support handover, commissioning, and close‑out documentation.
Background & Experience
-
Strong experience delivering construction projects on live sites.
-
Proven ability to manage subcontractors and multi‑discipline teams.

Solid understanding of civils, structural, and/or MEP works depending on project type.

Strong HSE knowledge and ability to enforce safe systems of work.

Experience with large‑scale infrastructure, utilities, energy, commercial, or industrial builds is advantageous.
