We are seeking an experienced Assembly Chargehand to be based in Boksburg, responsible for supervising daily assembly operations and coordinating shop‑floor activities. The role includes leading assembly teams, allocating work, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements, and supporting efficient workflow to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Allocate tasks to assembly team members and monitor work progress and productivity.
- Ensure all assembly work is carried out in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance and hands‑on support to assemblers where required.
- Enforce health, safety, and housekeeping standards on the shop floor at all times.
- Conduct quality checks and ensure defects or non‑conformances are identified and addressed promptly.
- Assist with training, mentoring, and skills development of assembly staff.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow.
- Maintain accurate production records, timesheets, and job cards.
- Support troubleshooting and problem‑solving related to assembly processes or equipment.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Trade-related qualification (mechanical engineering, fitting, boiler making, or related technical field) is highly advantageous.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or mechanical environment.
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in a supervisory, senior artisan, or chargehand role.
- Experience working with engineering drawings, BOMs, and work instructions.
