The electrical engineer will be a member of an engineering team responsible for developing products throughout the entire lifecycle, from initial concept through completion and into series production. The engineer will be responsible for the integration of electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, electrical components, and 3rd party system solutions to meet customer, regulatory, and technical requirements. The engineer will support the timely resolution of production and customer issues as well as identify and implement product design improvements and cost reductions for electrical wire harnesses, components, software, and systems of existing lift trucks. As needed, the engineer will be assigned to support the electrical design efforts for new product development projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and troubleshoot electrical wiring harnesses, power cabling, and systems used in lift trucks
• Creation of detailed drawings and schematics, and preparation of the engineering change packages
• Utilize knowledge of electrical design principles, standards, analytics, and concepts to design and integrate new and existing technology into lift trucks
• Maintain and improve new and existing lift truck electrical, software, and control systems.
• Selection, specification, and integration of electrical components for lift trucks to meet customer, technical and safety requirements
• Address customer- and supplier-driven change requests and warranty issues relating to electrical designs on lift trucks
• Coordinate work with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Support, and Procurement, as well as suppliers on product electrical design problems, quality issues, product improvements, and cost reductions
• Troubleshoot electrical wiring, components, and control systems on lift trucks and determine root cause and corrective actions
• Assist in coordinating prototyping & validation testing of new design concepts
• Verify control system software and system functionality through analysis and testing to ensure compliance with design requirements.
