Our client, a major resource development organization, is seeking an ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER to join their growing project engineering team supporting a large-scale mining development project. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering team, the successful candidate will be technically capable, highly organized, and eager to develop their career within a multidisciplinary project environment.

This is an initially Vancouver office-based role supporting project engineering, coordination, and technical deliverable management throughout the development of a major mining project. During the early project phases, the successful candidate will work closely with engineering, procurement, and project teams from the Vancouver office, with occasional travel to site as required.

As the project advances into execution and construction phases, the role is expected to become increasingly site-focused, with the potential for a longer-term site assignment in a couple of years' time.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who enjoys working in a collaborative project environment and is interested in gaining exposure to engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project execution activities.

The successful candidate will assist in coordinating project activities through all phases of the project lifecycle, from scope development and planning through execution and closeout.

Work Location: Initially Vancouver, BC (Office-Based)
Future Requirement: Potential transition to a site-based assignment as project execution progresses (anticipated in approximately 2 years)
Travel Requirements: Occasional site travel as required
Employment Status: Temporary Employee
Contract Duration: 1 year with possible extension

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering and capital project activities.
  • Assist with project scope development, cost estimates, schedules, and progress tracking.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines, contractors, vendors, procurement teams, and project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitor project performance and provide regular updates on scope, schedule, budget, risks, and action items.
  • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, technical workshops, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Assist with contractor coordination, work package preparation, procurement activities, and technical documentation.
  • Review engineering documents, drawings, specifications, and project deliverables for completeness and accuracy.
  • Support construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities as required.
  • Ensure project activities are completed in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and safety expectations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or another Canadian engineering association.
  • 1-3 years of engineering, project, construction, or industrial experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Project.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, energy, infrastructure, or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, project controls, and contractor coordination.
  • Previous co-op, internship, or project experience supporting engineering or capital projects.
  • Site exposure or construction experience is considered an asset but is not required.
Key Attributes
  • Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop engineering and project execution skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Works effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
What You'll Gain
  • Exposure to a major mining development project from an owner's perspective.
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and project professionals.
  • Opportunities to develop technical, project management, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary project team supporting a large-scale capital project.
  • Exposure to engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities across the project lifecycle.
  • The opportunity to follow a project from early-stage development through execution and future site deployment.
