The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring the technical outputs on the project are of quality and will meet the requirements of the project outcomes. This role will be the lead technical role within the project team, reporting to the project director.

The engineering manager is responsible for overseeing a multi-disciplinary engineering effort, responsible for both assessing and analysing engineering designs personally, as well eventually managing an engineering team that will be assembled as the project progresses.

Key duties include:

• Providing engineering support to inform client-side feedback to an engineering provider tasked with producing the design.
• Ensuring that all technical work completed on the project comply with our clients engineering standards and relevant Australian standards and guidelines.
• Ensuring that all designs produced as part of the project are fit for purpose and will achieve end requirements in line with the business case.
• Preparing technical reports, cost estimates and work schedules, specifications, and the technical component of tender documents.
• Co-ordinating engineering reviews and trade-off studies, and co-ordinating feedback to designers by engaging both internal and external resources.
• Reviewing and determining the quality of key engineering deliverables that coincide with milestone achievements in the project design.
• Determining requirements for further internal resourcing and managing the project engineering team as required.
• Assisting procurement leads by interacting with industry suppliers in procurement activities to ensure the assets are correctly specified.
• Formal tertiary qualification in engineering.
• Greater than 10 years’ experience in engineering within a project environment (with owners team engineering preferred but not essential).
• Previous experience in materials handling facilities (with port facilities preferred but not essential).
• Previous experience in leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
• Previous experience in front end engineering design.
