Environmental Specialist

In this role, the qualified candidate will report to the Senior Regulatory Manager and will be responsible for implementing and regulating an environmental strategy. The position will also require the successful candidate to promote inclusivity of indigenous groups and to conduct project post-environmental assessments.

Job Duties:
• Monitors construction procedures associated with project execution including pre-construction activities.
• Follows and enforces project permits, construction scopes, deadlines, and environmental management requirements.
• Evaluates scopes of work, bid packages, and contractor environmental protection plans and method statements.
• Conducts inspections of environmental incidents, assessments, site environmental sampling programs, and audits.
• Participates in the development of standards, guidelines, and program execution as they relate to Environmental policies, procedures, standards
• Implements and enforces safety policies and procedures so that all staff complies with company HSES and environmental guidelines

Qualifications:
• Must have a degree in one of the following: environmental science, biology, or a related field of study
• 8+ years of applicable experience.
• Extensive knowledge of safety, and the ability to comply with local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations
• Strong computer program skills with Microsoft Office.
• Necessary to have a valid BC driver’s license and passport due to the position requiring travel to other communities.
