An experienced Fitter is required to be based in Boksburg, responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and components. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings, performing faultfinding, ensuring equipment operates efficiently, and adhering to safety and quality standards. The successful candidate will work hands‑on in a workshop or production environment to support reliable operations and meet production requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions.
- Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
- Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments correctly.
- Conduct inspections and identify wear, defects, or potential failures.
- Report technical issues, deviations, or equipment failures to supervisors.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and testing of equipment where required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, and reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Recognised Trade Test as a Fitter / Mechanical Artisan (essential).
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ post‑trade experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or workshop environment.
- Proven experience in the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment and components.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manuals.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, mechanical systems, and associated components.
