A suitably qualified Grinder is required to be based in Boksburg, responsible for operating grinding machines to shape, finish, and prepare metal components to required specifications. The role involves reading basic drawings, measuring and inspecting workpieces, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all work is completed in line with quality and safety standards within a workshop or production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret basic drawings, measurements, and job instructions.
- Measure and inspect workpieces using measuring tools to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Perform surface finishing, deburring, and material removal as required.
- Ensure grinding work meets quality, tolerance, and finish requirements.
- Maintain and care for grinding equipment, tools, and work areas.
- Adhere to health, safety, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Identify and report defects, tool wear, or equipment issues to the supervisor.
- Work efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Assist with general workshop duties when required.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- Grade 10 or Grade 12 (Matric).
- Relevant technical or vocational training in metalwork, machining, or engineering (advantageous but not essential).
- Minimum 1–3 years’ experience operating grinding machines in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
- Proven experience in surface grinding, bench grinding, or hand grinding of metal components.
- Experience working with steel or heavy engineering components is an advantage.
