FUNCTION:          INSTRUMENTATION DESIGNER

LOCATION:          DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA
SALARY:               R35 000 CTC (NEGOTIABLE)

“TRS has an excellent opportunity available for an Instrumentation Designer with instrumentation /electrical completed Artisanship FET and petrochemical and/or power generation industry experience. Position based in Durban, South Africa.”

REQUIRED OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design of instrumentation and DCS systems on Intools
• Design of schematic and connection diagrams for instrumentation equipment
• As-building of existing instrumentation installations
• Assistance with commissioning support for new systems
• Compile instrumentation construction scope of work
• Update and create instrument specification sheets

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Completed Artisanship FET Certificate: instrumentation/electrical or currently studying towards a National Diploma in electrical engineering light current
• 2 years’ experience in the petrochemical or power generation industry will be advantageous
• Experience in analog, digital control loops wiring and fault finding
• Intools experience
• Experience in DCS/PLC and ESD system and Intools

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Basics in Field Instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, etc.)
• Basic understanding of P&ID /MFD
• Report writing
• Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of applicable design codes, standards and regulations
