We are seeking a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer to lead civil and structural design activities, manage engineering teams, and ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective solutions for mining and process plant projects. This role is located in Johannesburg.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead civil and structural engineering design for mining and industrial projects.
- Manage and support a team of engineers and designers.
- Oversee design deliverables including drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Ensure designs meet safety standards, codes, and client requirements.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, process, electrical, project management).
- Interface directly with clients and provide technical guidance.
- Support project planning, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Review vendor documentation and technical submissions.
Qualifications And Skills Requirements:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in civil/structural engineering within mining, heavy industry, or infrastructure.
- Experience in an EPCM, consulting, or design office environment.
- Professional registration (or working towards it).
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and regulations.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Experience with earthworks, foundations, concrete and steel structures.
- Mining-related infrastructure such as materials handling, plant layouts, or tailings facilities.
- Experience across project study phases (concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility).
