Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical engineering activities for underground mining operations.
- Ensure compliance with mining regulations and safety standards.
- Oversee maintenance, reliability, and performance of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for equipment failures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, civil, and mining engineers.
- Manage contractors and service providers on site.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Support capital projects and equipment upgrades.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical systems and processes.
Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
- BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10–15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, predominantly in mining.
- Extensive experience in underground mining operations.
- Strong knowledge of mining equipment, ventilation systems, and shaft infrastructure.
- ECSA registration (preferred).
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Exposure to ISO standards and risk management frameworks.
- Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
