A thrilling opportunity is now available for a Mechanical Designer to join Mining and metal business line and be involved in all aspects of creating detailed mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions, Based in Woodmead. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, layouts, and fabrication drawings for mining equipment and systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to define design requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.
- To lead and execute the mechanical design of mining-related equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
- Conduct site visits to gather data, verify designs, and support installation and commissioning activities.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant mining and mechanical engineering standards (e.g., SANS, ISO, ASME).
- Perform design calculations, material selection, and tolerance analysis.
- Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) to produce 2D and 3D models.
- Review and approve vendor drawings and documentation.
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate documentation and revision control.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
- National Diploma or BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10–15 years of mechanical design experience, with a strong focus on the mining industry.
- Professional registration (e.g., ECSA) is advantageous.
- Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
- Experience working on EPCM or capital projects is a plus.
- Familiarity with mining operations, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
