Mechanical Engineering Technician

Job Title: (Contract) Mechanical Engineer
Location: New Berlin, WI
Industry: Auxiliary parts manufacturer
Status of hire: 6-9 month contract (could turn permanent)
Compensation: approx. $42/hr depending upon experience

TRS Staffing Solutions is currently seeking a contract Mechanical Engineer to join one of their manufacturing clients in New Berlin, WI.

A successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Handle all mechanical aspects of design for the products, including generating drawings and bills of materials
• Provide quotes for design and development of mechanical systems, and redesign of existing systems to meet the customer needs
• Communicate with customers/sales to develop mechanical specification
• Interface with Electrical Group to integrate PLC control
• Work with manufacturing to ensure product manufacturability and troubleshoot floor problems
• Follow through on field tests and develop new ideas as suggested by the results of the tests
• Act as technical support for the sales team
• Other duties as assigned

A qualified candidate will be pro-active and possess these requirements:

• BSME or AS and 2-5 years of design and project management experience or combination of internships and co-ops
• Design experience, including creating drawings and bills of materials
• Quoting (including scope of work) experience
• Design for manufacturability experience
• Ability to develop and make presentations to customers and company management
• Communication Skills with an emphasis on working with all departments in the business unit
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
• Experience with CAD systems, such as SolidWorks
• Computer Literate with experience in the Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to travel may be required
