Principal Piping & layout Engineer

For our client we are looking to recruit a Principal Piping & Layout Engineer to join their team in the The Hague area.

The company has an established position in Europe as a leading industrial gas owner/operator company,. They are opening a new Project Delivery Hub in the Rotterdam/Hague area in order to support their ambitious growth plans. From here, their people will drive forward and continue to successfully develop, execute and operate an ever-increasing project-portfolio in the region as well as the evolving footprint of our Industrial Gas business in EMEA.

They are investing in the production of clean hydrogen fuel for the mobility sector to decarbonize heavy-duty vehicles. They are also the global leader in creating technology solutions for capturing CO₂ from fossil fuel conversion before it reaches the atmosphere. Furthermore, the gases they produce and distribute are helping reduce food waste, are supplied to hospitals and are used in many other markets. In short: you probably use their products every day, you just don’t realise it!

For their new Project Delivery location, we are currently looking for a Principal Piping & Layout Engineer.

As our Principal Piping & Layout Engineer, you will:
- Accountable as Lead Engineer for the functional subject area of Piping and Layout on assigned projects.
- Accountable for delivering safe, fit-for-purpose piping designs to an agreed schedule and agreed budget.
- Lead the Piping and Layout support to the Project development group in attending site inspections and developing Lowest cost bid Layouts and studies.
- Working with global design centers in achieving low-cost solutions in design and execution.
- Maintaining good communication and relationships with Global design centers, to achieve seamless interaction and project hand-off between regions.
- Maintaining good relationships and communication with upstream functions within the engineering group.
- Developing design reuse strategies and products.
- Continually reviewing and improving Global Job aids and processes to ensure the safest and lowest cost design and execution.
- Project engineering role assignment potential.

Dimensions
- Responsible for delivering Conceptual and detailed piping design packages on projects.
- Authority in the field of Piping and Layout.
- Providing support to engineering centers as execution requires.
- Support European and Middle East Bid and proposal requests.
- Support Mid Cryo size plant development of Product designs.
- Possible assignment to a Project engineering role (PEM) as the need arises. - This could be a role done alongside the functional role or could be full-time for a given project.

Your profile:
- Extensive piping design experience working on EPC projects.
- Must be familiar with an engineering organization, the function of each field and how they interact, and the function of the various support groups.
- Hands-on experience with S3D piping software and associated modules.
- Experienced in developing basic and detailed plant layouts.
- Construction experience in planning for fabrication and installation of piping spools and equipment.
- Experienced in leading piping design and development of the 3D models and leading model reviews.
- Experience in design verification of piping design and knowledge of industry codes and standards.
- Modularized design experience and skid design experience are desirable.
- Experience in both Pipe supporting and Piping stress work process.
- Experience and knowledge to efficiently communicate issues and ideas optimally.
- Good written and spoken English and strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience ideally with multi-center execution of projects.
- Must be able to travel globally.
