This Project Director role provides leadership in the organization or functional area and is primarily engaged in management activities that establish the direction of a department, function, or project. The project director will make decisions in areas that may impact the organization and its employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs.

The Project Director will be overseeing all the major projects in the Vancouver office, working closely with the project managers to ensure successful deliveries of the projects. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive project safety plan, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices 
  • Oversee the integration of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards throughout all project phases, promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship
  • Review and sign off on incident reports, providing detailed analysis and recommendations for preventing future occurrences
  • Ensure thorough understanding and execution of prime contracts and subcontracts, maintaining alignment with contractual obligations and client expectations
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with client reporting requirements, notifications, and project start-up/close-out procedures
  • Establish and maintain project baselines, updating them throughout the project lifecycle and communicating changes to the project team
  • Lead project delivery efforts, meeting execution and commercial baselines while striving to achieve profitability targets
  • Define project organization structure and staffing requirements, coordinating recruitment and allocation of resources as needed
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Project Procedures Manual (PPM) to guide project activities and ensure consistency
  • Provide strong leadership to uphold safety, quality, timeliness, and profitability goals, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork among project stakeholders
  • Cultivate and maintain effective client relationships, addressing concerns promptly and facilitating open communication channels
  • Strategize and implement project execution plans to maximize workshare opportunities and optimize resource utilization
  • Establish and manage a robust change management system to track and address changes to project scope, requirements, and conditions
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across design, procurement, construction, and maintenance phases to ensure seamless project integration and execution
  • Ensure timely issuance of project deliverables, bid packages, and design documents, facilitating efficient project progress and stakeholder alignment

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Accredited four-year degree or equivalent, with at least twenty years of work-related experience or a combination totaling twenty-four years if non-degreed.
  • Effective communication skills, technical knowledge relevant to the job, and attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience in underground mining is required.
  • Successful experience managing medium to large sized EPC/EPCM projects in a significant role is required.
  • Be proactive and able to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to influence a group of diverse individuals, each with their own goals, needs, and perspectives, to work together effectively for the good of a project
