Our client in the Northeast is looking for a HV Project Engineer. As the HV & MV Project Engineer is responsible for the safe, compliant, and timely delivery of high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical projects. This includes the design coordination, planning, execution, commissioning, and handover of electrical infrastructure works in line with statutory, contractual, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage HV and MV electrical projects from design through to commissioning and handover
  • Support development of project scope, programmes, budgets, and risk assessments
  • Coordinate internal teams, contractors, DNOs/IDNOs, ICPs, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards Review and approve HV/MV designs, calculations, protection settings, and drawings
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. ENA, IEC, BS, HSG, Electricity at Work Regulations)
  • Oversee installation of substations, switchgear, transformers, cables, and associated equipment
  • Act as a technical point of contact for clients and external partners
  • Attend project meetings and provide clear progress and technical updates
  • Support client handover, documentation, and close-out activities
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience delivering HV and/or MV electrical projects
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks (11kV–132kV or similar)
  • Experience working with DNOs, ICPs, utilities, or private networks
  • Knowledge of UK electrical standards and safety legislation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
  • Previous Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person experience
  • Experience in renewables, EV infrastructure, data centres, or large infrastructure projects
  • Design capability or coordination experience
  • Commercial awareness and contract management exposure
Qualifications
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
