The Construction Project Engineer position allows for wide ranging development for the individual within the construction industry. We encourage the participation in various industry related associations along with the continuing education of the employees. Many on this path of Construction Project Engineer will develop into the Project Manager role or other leadership positions.
Responsibilities of the Construction Project Engineer include but are not limited to the following:
• Establish and maintain excellent professional relationships with clients, engineers, architects, project managers, and construction workers
• Complete responsibility for the document control of the project (RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, etc.)
• Assist with project planning, including equipment and manpower
• Prepare engineering submittals and work plans in conformance with the project planning and specifications
• Complete project takeoffs and buyout of project materials
• Prepare and distribute project look ahead schedule and track progress for CPM schedule
• Participation in preconstruction, progress, and close out meetings
• Coordinate project changes and issues with internal and external project team
• Assist with the preparation and distribute project specific work plan to the project team (plans, specifications, list of subcontractors and vendors, project budget, etc.)
• Review, verify and approve subcontractor invoices, verify field measurements
• Coordinate scheduling with subcontractor
• Coordinate invoices to customers, including follow-up, verification of payments, payment dates
Applicant requirements:
• Minimum 0-3 years’ experience in construction or civil engineering related to road, bridge and site improvement projects
• Minimum 0-3 years’ using construction related computer software (HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob)
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Must be able to work well within a high paced and energetic environment as part of the project team
