Location: Wando, SC 29492
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire, salaried exempt
Industry: chemical manufacturing
Pay: $95-145k (depending on experience)

Summary: The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for project management and execution stages with safety, quality, schedule, and budget targets.
Accountabilities of the job:
Manage all aspects of small projects including safety, quality, schedule, budget, permitting, acceptance testing, construction, change management, capital spares, start-up/commissioning, and adherence to internal stage gate approval process
Lead the project core team, which includes the asset team of operations, process controls, maintenance, inspection, process and reliability engineering, and SHE
Develop project execution plans and decision support packages for each stage gate
Lead the core team with statement of requirements, project scope development, basis of design, options, risks/mitigations
Lead the core team and engineering contractors with detail engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning
Support Operations during start-up and the initial operational period with troubleshooting and corrective actions
Design projects in compliance with internal engineering standards, specifications, and relevant industry codes
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum 5-7 years’ experience engineering and project management experience in the petrochemicals industry
Experience with oversight of and collaboration with EPC firms, experience with construction management in a TAR environment (turnaround environment)
Experience working with engineering design firms
Strong budgeting and cost control skills
Demonstrated technical capability to assess vendor quotes
Demonstrated capabilities to assess work sequencing, optimize project planning and scheduling
Experience with estimating and scheduling tools
Capability to assess impact of specifications and standards for both rotating and fixed equipment on reliability and maintainability of production unit
Self-motivated, self-starter
Capable of managing multiple complex tasks with the ability to identify, prioritize, and proactively address based on risk and consequence
Essential Job Functions: Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Environmental Factors
During turnarounds and planned/unplanned shutdowns, work 12-hour shifts, up to 6 days weekly, including night shift
Work in confined spaces (e.g., pressure vessels and at heights including scaffolding, stairs, ladders, elevated platforms)
*Must be permanently authorized to work in the US for any employer
*Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check to be eligible for hire
