Job Description:
The Project Manager will lead the Design, Supply, Erection, Testing and Commissioning of Electrical & Mechanical works of the Chennai metro underground metro station in Chennai. This role involves overseeing the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of electrical & mechanical systems followed by defect liability maintenance period. Project Manager will ensure project delivery within scope, budget, and timeline while adhering to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the entire scope of work related to Electrical & Mechanical systems at Underground metro along with tunnel & stations. Auxiliary systems such as BMS, Lighting, Fire Fighting system, FAS, Plumbing, DG sets, LPS HVAC etc.
- Ensure timely progress through all stages: design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and system integration, Timely compliance of client observations, MPR, DPR etc.
- Drive compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, environmental norms, and contract terms.
- Develop and oversee the transition strategy from commissioning to long-term Operations & Maintenance (O&M) phase.
- Monitoring project schedule, site access, issuance of Manufacturing clearance etc.
- Monitoring technical approval of the Boq items and compliance of technical specifications.
- Monitoring of shop drawings approval, as built drawing & design Boq .
- Supervise the preparation and submission of accurate and timely monthly client bills.
- Monitor project cash flow and ensure alignment between physical progress, billing milestones, and payment cycles.
- Work closely with finance and commercial teams to optimize working capital and mitigate cash flow risks.
- Approve subcontractor and vendor bills in accordance with project budgets and work completion.
- Prepare financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analyses for internal and client reviews.
- Serve as the single point of accountability for the client, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary internal teams to ensure seamless execution of E&M systems.
- Lead project review meetings, risk assessments, and quality control initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of project documentation, progress reports, schedules, and resource plans.
Required Skills and qualifications:
Full time bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines:

- Electrical engineering / Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- Minimum 20+ years of experience, including at least 15 years as In-charge in Metro Rail Systems and preference will be given specifically as In-charge of Underground Metro E&M works.
Technical skills:
-
- Proficiency in MS Project/Primavera, Excel, and ERP tools for tracking physical and financial progress.
- AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office should have the working skill.
- Proven leadership in the execution of large-scale infrastructure projects involving complex electrical systems.
- Should have experience in MEP system of Metro, general services including lighting, Earth-Mat & HVAC, DG sets, UPS, Fire Fighting, FAS & Plumbing System of Stations.
- Strong understanding of billing cycles, cash flow planning, and financial controls in EPC projects. Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to achieve cost efficiency and timely completion.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for all project phases, ensuring alignment with client objectives and contractual obligations.
- Manage system integration, testing, and commissioning to ensure seamless operation and interoperability of all project components.
- Coordinate with Client, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure project milestones are met.
- Enforce strict adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive solutions to technical and operational challenges. Provide regular progress reports to Client/ Consultants and other stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and corrective actions.
- Successfully executed the metro project till handing over stage to the client.
