Client is looking for a Senior / Lead Process Safety Engineer
Project Type: Oil & gas, petrochemical, Chemicals plants
Location: Al-Khobar and Jubail, Saudi Arabia
Requirements/Qualification:
- KSA‑based candidates highly considered
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
- Specialized training or certification in Process Safety are preferred.
- Minimum10–15+ years’ experience
- Prior PDP / FEED and DEP execution experience is mandatory.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and/or facilitate process safety studies e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, etc.
- Define study scope, node selection, participation requirements, and documentation.
- Ensure timely closure of study actions with proper technical justification.
- Develop and review Process Safety Design Philosophy.
- Identify and verify layers of protection (instrumented, procedural, mechanical).
- Ensure appropriate application of inherently safer design principles.
- Review and validate overpressure scenarios in line with API 521.
- Review PSV sizing, flare load estimation, and disposal systems.
- Coordinate with process and mechanical disciplines on relief systems.
Required Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of PDP, FEED and DEP workflows.
- Strong understanding of the requirements of process safety in design during various phase of projects (PDP/FEED/DEP).
- Hands-on experience facilitating HAZOP and SIL studies
- Solid understanding of LOPA methodology and safeguarding hierarchy.
- Knowledge and experience of flare, relief, and hazardous area concepts.
- Knowledge and experience of QRA, Consequence Modeling, Noise Analysis and Fire & Gas Detection and Protection Systems.
- Strong knowledge of Codes & Standards (API, ASME, ISO, NFPA, IEC etc.) and Regulations (HCIS, RCER etc.).
