Summary
Responsible for managing the Terrace, BC branch operations, focusing on large industrial sites in the Northwest of BC. Site Services offerings include construction Equipment, Tool, and Scaffolding rentals along with other indirect services. The Branch Operations Manager is responsible for contract management, staffing and administration, mechanical group, and the overall execution of daily work of the branch. The ability to work cross-functionally within our inside/outside sales, marketing, purchasing, rental, and service departments as well as with clients, is critical to ensuring the Site Services, operations and profitability objectives are achieved.
Success will be measured by one’s ability to establish and implement CLIENT standards to facilitate the attainment of company goals and to enhance resource efficiencies, safety, workmanship, accuracy, and profitability.
The work requires advanced knowledge gained from a prolonged period of work in the industry, preferably with a mechanics background and time in administration. The position includes work requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
This position is directly responsible for all members of the Project team.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct all operational functions of the branch.
- Execute in accordance with CLIENT policies and procedures.
- Produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout the year.
- Determine the appropriate staffing levels and interview/select personnel.
- Maintain relations with the Director of Operations Canada, the branch manager, the Sales team in Terrace, and the Business development manager of Canada. Functionally reporting to the US COO as well.
- Manage documentation to include rental equipment listing by contractor, tool/consumable listings by contract, application for payment tracking, client/contractor communications and budget tracking for income and expenses.
- Requisition all rental and purchased construction equipment, tools, scaffolding, consumables, and expendable supplies needed to support the project.
- Maintain and promote good member relations by consistently applying Human Resource, Safety, and Quality policies and procedures.
- Manage personnel and provide an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities, and timely performance feedback.
- Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently across all business lines.
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers.
- Analyze situations, identify, and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement an appropriate course of action.
- Organize and prioritize a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
- Adhere to and support CLIENT's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
- May need to travel to attend to business-related matters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience.
- Basic computer and software skills include the use of e-mail, spreadsheets, and electronic presentation programs.
- Mathematical/budgeting experience.
- Project management skills, including profit/loss and scheduling.
- Excellent time management skills/abilities while being results-oriented with strong attention to detail/follow-up.
- Solid problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide timely and workable solutions.
- Must always display a professional demeanor, while maintaining creditability and trustworthiness amongst both internal/external customers.
- Must have excellent knowledge of construction equipment, tools, and indirect construction services.
- Self-motivated, self-reliant, able to work with little direction, while exercising independent judgment and decisions.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to effectively supervise and improve work processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, provincial, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Working Conditions
- Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and/or various levels of environmental conditions including but not limited to project worksites and vendor/client facilities.
- Availability as requested/required for after-hour emergency calls and necessary overtime as the workload dictates, which may include some weekends.
- Must be able to accommodate overnight travel demands both domestic and international.
