Sr. Electrical Design Engineer

TRS Staffing is seeking a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer for a contract role with a global EPC located in Houston, TX.

Job Description

• Under general supervision, perform and check most types of calculations and design using both computer-aided and manual design techniques. Provide assistance to the Lead Engineer, as requested, in the areas of schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement, activities etc.
• If serving in a Lead or Area Lead position, perform all or some of the following: organize/plan jobs, write/review specifications, prepare/maintain schedules, develop/monitor estimates and manpower forecasts, assign work, work with project/client/field, material procurement, permit, and subcontract activities
• Utilize vendor data and work with personnel from other disciplines as required for the performance of designs
• Perform squad check of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines
• Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals
• Attend external technical seminars and self-enroll in training courses for in-house management
• Perform self-check of completed work, develop self-confidence, and provide guidance to less experienced engineers
• Exhibit thorough understanding of pertinent codes and governing regulations and industry practices, etc.

Specific Electrical Activities

• Perform Load Flow, Short Circuit and Motor Starting Calculations
• Uses Departmental and Project Design Guides
• Work on Electrical Load Lists
• Inspection of Equipment
• Request for Quotation, Bid Tabulations and Purchase Requests
• Work well with others
• Complete work in allotted time
• Other duties as assigned

Expected Minimum Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering
• Professional Registration and membership in external technical society preferred
• 6 years of experience
