For our client's project in Pernis we are currently searching for a Quality (Lead) Inspector – Civil who will be responsible for leading and coordinating all civil quality assurance and control activities on-site. Acting on behalf of the main EPC contractor, this is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground role, requiring daily presence in the field to ensure that all civil and architectural works meet contractual, regulatory, and technical requirements. The Lead Inspector will supervise a team of inspectors, interface with subcontractors and client representatives, and drive continuous improvement in quality performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the civil quality inspection team and oversee all QA/QC activities related to civil and architectural works.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Review and interpret technical documentation including GA drawings, foundation layouts, plot plans, and specifications.
- Coordinate and monitor subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Conduct and supervise inspections as per the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Interface with client representatives for joint inspections, RFI reviews, and quality-related communications.
- Manage the preparation and closure of civil punch lists, ensuring timely resolution of critical items.
- Oversee inspections of RCC works, formwork, masonry, finishes, pavements, scaffolding, and underground utilities.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of inspections, tests, and quality records.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality incidents and non-conformances.
- Support the Site Quality Manager in audits, surveillance activities, and quality reporting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for civil quality issues between construction disciplines and the client.
- Promote a proactive quality culture and mentor junior inspectors and site personnel.
- Maintain a strong field presence to monitor construction activities and ensure real-time quality compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in civil and architectural quality control within large industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Proven leadership experience in a QA/QC role, preferably within an EPC environment.
- Strong understanding of inspection and testing techniques, codes, and specifications.
- Relevant certifications in quality management (e.g., ISO 9001, QA/QC Civil Inspector).
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); Dutch language skills are a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and client representatives.
Preferred Competencies:
- Supervisory and team leadership capabilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality excellence.
- Ability to influence and drive quality improvements across teams.
- Experience with civil works in refinery or industrial environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Dutch construction regulations and standards is an advantage.
