Applications / Estimating Manager – Edmonton
We are seeking a highly capable Applications Manager to lead our client's Applications Engineering team in Edmonton. This is a rewarding and fast‑paced role that supports clients and internal stakeholders through budgets, technical reviews, RFP responses, proposals, and cost estimates. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, proven leadership, and deep understanding of equipment and processes used in natural gas processing facilities.
Role Overview
As the Applications Manager, you will oversee and mentor a team of four Applications Engineers, ensuring high‑quality proposal development and effective support across engineering, sales, and project execution teams. This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring initiative, strong technical judgment, and the ability to guide both people and processes in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4 Applications Engineers, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage the full lifecycle of proposals and RFPs, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and sales teams to develop competitive technical solutions.
- Direct proposal strategy, budgets, and cost estimates to support business objectives.
- Ensure strong understanding of client applications and specifications across natural gas processing facilities, including associated equipment such as separators, compressors, dehydrators, treaters, filtration systems, process vessels, heat exchangers, and modular skid packages.
- Promote efficient collaboration across internal teams and lead proposal handoff meetings following contract awards.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical background in applications engineering with knowledge of engineered equipment used in natural gas processing or related facilities.
- Demonstrated understanding of compression systems, process vessels, modular process packages, and gas‑treating equipment.
- Proven ability to manage complex proposals, RFP documents, and multi‑stakeholder requirements.
- Confident, proactive leadership style — someone who can “take the bull by the horns” and operate with autonomy.
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- P.Eng designation preferred to support mentorship and development of EITs
(CET candidates will be considered but P.Eng is ideal). - Experience with competitors or similar engineered‑equipment companies is an asset.
- Strong background in applications engineering, proposal development, or technical sales support.
Work Arrangement
This role is based in Edmonton.
- Strong preference for full‑time, in‑office (5 days/week).
- Hybrid flexibility may be considered but is not guaranteed.
