We are seeking a COMMERCIAL CONTRACTS ADVISOR to support our client's contracting and procurement activities for study-phase and sustaining capital projects. This role focuses on implementing fit-for-purpose strategies and ensuring compliance with governance standards.
Work Location: Vancouver based
Employment Type: Independent Contractor
Contract Duration: 1 year term with possible extension
Hourly Rate: Commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end strategic sourcing for goods and services related to studies and sustaining capital projects.
- Lead contract negotiation and ensure compliance with governance standards.
- Support systems optimization for procurement and contract management.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with project objectives.
- Administer pre-award and post-award activities, including RFx development, bid evaluations, and supplier performance monitoring.
- Develop and execute procurement plans and sourcing strategies for study-phase deliverables.
- Manage RFx processes, including bidder qualification, bid evaluations, and supplier negotiations.
- Support contract formation and operationalization in ERP systems (SAP, Ariba).
- Administer post-award activities such as contract management, performance monitoring, and close-out.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives and ESG commitments.
Qualifications
- Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in procurement, contracting, or supply chain within heavy industry (energy, mining, or EPC projects).
- Familiarity with capital projects and study-phase contracting; major project experience is not mandatory.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills, with proven ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Ariba preferred) and ability to optimize processes.
- Candidates with energy project experience and sustaining capital exposure are encouraged to apply.
