Our client, a leading multidisciplinary engineering firm is looking for a Senior / Lead Cost Estimator. The company is specializing in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, oil & gas, energy transition, and heavy industrial sectors. They deliver projects from feasibility studies to EPCm execution.
As a Senior/Lead Cost Estimator, you will be responsible for capital cost estimates, developing standards, and implementing programs and methodologies to enhance our cost estimating services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop cost estimates at various accuracy levels depending on the design stage (feasibility, concept, or basic engineering).
- Prepare the cost estimating plan, defining the Work and Cost Breakdown Structure, methodology, and principles in collaboration with the client and project team.
- Compare and analyze scope, quantities, and cost data across projects; develop benchmarks through validation and verification of previous estimates, actual project costs, and market prices.
- Develop escalation models where necessary and assist in determining owner’s costs.
- Coordinate risk identification and mitigation strategies; evaluate appropriate contingency and allowance levels.
- Prepare and present cost estimate information to management and clients; participate in client gate reviews.
- Act as the primary point of contact for cost estimating service requests across multiple offices, supporting Project Managers with estimating strategies and approaches.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a project environment, preferably within multidisciplinary engineering firms, as a Cost Estimator, Cost Engineer, or similar.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering processes.
- Extensive experience in preparing capital cost estimates.
- Bachelor-level education (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to manage multiple cost estimates simultaneously.
- Strong conceptual thinking skills for different design stages.
- Excellent communication, advisory, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, applying professional judgment and technical knowledge.
- Experience with feasibility and risk analysis.
- Proficiency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
