The Opportunity Our client, an industry leader in the Rail Manufacturing and Construction sector is looking for a General Manager to join their team. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to further progress their careers within the Rail Industry. The ideal candidate would have previous experience in the industry, with a strong desire to join a profitable and stable organization with lots of opportunity for future growth and career advancement. This key individual will oversee the track, signals and flagging departments while overseeing safety, quality, scheduling P & L and ensuring all rail objectives are being met. In addition, this key leader will motivate teams, drive long term objectives and will have a strong business acumen. You will encompass strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with a sense of safety and urgency; ability to think logically, problem solve and think critically Responsibilities The General Manager will be responsible for day to day activities along with overseeing project teams and ensuing project deliverables. Knowledge of operational budgets, cost & corporate reporting, defining targets, timelines and deadlines are essential to this role. Strong knowledge of end to end contract management is highly desired. The ability to manage project plans ensuing customer satisfaction, defining scope of work and deliverables, including execution of equipment and manpower in support of the Project Team; Plan, organize and staff key field positions. The track record of mentoring, guiding and coaching direct reports to expand their talents while adhering to human resources practices; annual performance management reviews, recruitment activities, training, succession planning etc. Highly safety conscious with development of Quality & Safety Management Plans, Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Manufacturing, and Construction plans to meet project objectives Qualifications 10+ years in a Leadership role with related Rail Industry experience, demonstrating success in building high performance teams and stakeholder relationships Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction or related field We thank all applicants for their interest; however only those who work in Canada will be considered for this position and only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
