Material Planning Lead (MPL)

Major Project | EPC / EPCM Environment

We are seeking an experienced Material Planning Lead (MPL) to play a critical leadership role within a major project delivery team. Reporting to the Project Material Manager (PMM), this position leads the Material Planning discipline and ensures material and equipment readiness supports construction across all project locations.

This role is ideal for a strategic, detail-driven leader who thrives in complex EPC/EPCM environments and enjoys working at the intersection of Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Construction, and Project Controls.

About the Role

As the Material Planning Lead, you will be accountable for ensuring materials and equipment are correctly structured, scheduled, allocated, and visible—aligned with Required at Site (RAS) dates and Construction Work Packages (CWPs).

You will provide governance over material planning systems and lead a high-performing planning team to support seamless construction execution.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Material Planning team across project locations

  • Implement and maintain the Material Planning Plan and Execution Responsibility Matrix (ERM)

  • Act as the Project governance lead for the Material Management System (MatMan), ensuring data integrity and consistent use

Planning & System Control

  • Ensure accurate development of equipment and bulk MTOs

  • Verify correct assignment of all materials and equipment to WBS and CWPs

  • Ensure accurate linkage of RAS dates to all material items

  • Oversee upload, validation, and maintenance of material data within MatMan

  • Maintain alignment between engineering quantities, procurement commitments, and construction sequencing

Material Availability & Reporting

  • Deliver accurate material availability reporting by package

  • Provide allocation modelling and scenario-based analysis to support project decisions

  • Apply project “bumping” philosophy where prioritisation is required

  • Proactively identify risks relating to shortages or late deliveries and initiate corrective actions, including expediting

What You’ll Bring

  • Substantial EPC / EPCM material management experience on large-scale projects

  • Proven leadership experience managing material planning teams

  • Experience across multi-office or regional execution models (e.g. South East Asia)

  • Strong understanding of WBS / CWP alignment and schedule integration

  • Hands-on experience with material management systems such as MatMan, SmartPlant Materials, ERM, BPS, or IPS

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a strategically significant, large-scale project

  • Work in an integrated, collaborative delivery environment

  • Lead a critical function that directly impacts construction success

  • Competitive remuneration and long-term project opportunity
